How to Obtain LEED Certification?
The process to receive a LEED certification from GBC Brasil is rigorous and time-consuming. According to the organization's website, it is necessary to meet some mandatory practices and recommendations that are analyzed, ensuring points for the building. To acquire the certification, follow these steps:
- Access the GBC Brasil website and click on "certification step".
- You will choose the project typology. The GBC Brasil website assists you throughout the entire process.
- Register the project via LEED Online
- Throughout the project and construction stages, prerequisites and credits must be documented, along with completed and standardized forms (Calculations and evidence), and uploaded to the LEED Online platform.
- The process will enter analysis; if necessary, the GBCI reviewer will contact you, requesting information or clarifications.
- After the final analysis of the material and all stages completed, the team may appeal and request a review of individual credits.
- The project will then receive the certification level according to the points achieved.
The GBC website is in Portuguese and has various materials to assist with any doubts. However, in some processes, knowledge of English is necessary because, from the third step, you will enter the international LEED platform. Tools like translators help, but due to certain information, it is important to understand the process well.
What are the Difficulties in Obtaining LEED Certification?
The initial process for LEED certification requires an initial investment, as it is necessary to acquire ecological materials and equip the company with sustainable technologies. To ensure quick project approval, hire specialized consultants so that all processes are filled out correctly.
